I Grammy Awards 2016 si sono tenuti la mattina del 16 febbraio 2016 – ora italiana – allo Staples Center di Los Angeles, California. La cerimonia ha riconosciuto le migliori registrazioni, composizioni ed i migliori artisti dell’anno, in una fascia temporale che va dal 1 ottobre 2014 al 30 settembre 2015.
E’ stato trasmesso in diretta dalla rete CBS. La cerimonia di “pre-trasmissione televisiva”, è ufficialmente conosciuta come la cerimonia di premiere, in cui sono stati presentati la maggior parte dei premi, e si è svolta al Microsoft Theater, che si trova accanto allo Staples Center. Questa cerimonia è stata trasmesso in diretta su internet.
Questa edizione degli Grammy Awards è andata in scena per la prima volta di lunedì, dopo diversi anni in cui i premi sono stati consegnati la domenica. La mossa si dice che sia temporanea, in quanto questa edizione cadrà in un fine settimana di vacanze americane (15 febbraio è il giorno del Presidente), e l’organizzazione Grammy ha optato per una cerimonia il 15.
Le candidature per i 58° Grammy Awards sono state annunciate il 7 dicembre 2015. Kendrick Lamar ha ricevuto il maggior numero di nomination con 11.
Taylor Swift e The Weeknd hanno ricevuto sette nomination ciascuno. Il produttore Max Martin ha ricevuto il maggior numero di nomination per un artista non-performing, con sei. LL Cool J ha presentato l’evento dei Grammy per il quinto anno consecutivo.
Gwen Stefani ha fatto la storia con l’esecuzione del video musicale dal vivo per il suo nuovo singolo “Make Me Like U“, durante la pausa pubblicitaria. Qui sotto i vincitori dei premi delle categorie messe in palio.
